Polar Ice Cathedral - Art by Katharine Alecse
Polar Ice Cathedral, Art by Katharine Alecse printed on Giclée Hahnemühle German Etching.
On my trip to Yangshuo, China, we visited caves and I couldn’t help but notice that the stalactites resembled organ pipes like in cathedrals. Polar Bears to me are sacred creatures and should be protected. They are dying out, partly as a result of global warming caused by humans. I wanted to invent a cave that I would like to live in with a cosy fire and all my favourite books where I could play the organ and have the sound echo throught the cave. There is a Native American dream catcher in the doorway and Inuit markings on the stops of the organ. The polar bear is life size to give you the feeling of actually being in the cave.
