Landscape 62 Chinese Brush Painting by River Han
Mountain and Cloud (黃山雲海圖), Art by River Han printed on Giclée Hahnemühle Bamboo.
A scene I captured while visiting Huangshan in China.
Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) is characterized by its spectacular natural scenes with a forest of peaks each higher than the next. The magnificent rocks, vigorous and elegant pines and dynamic flowing clouds are the well-known "Three Wonders" of Huangshan. When the mountain is shrouded in fog and cloud, the constant changing views are really unparalleled in the world.
During the Ming Dynasty from around the 16th century, this landscape and its numerous grotesquely-shaped rocks and ancient, gnarled trees inspired the influential Shanshui (“Mountain and Water”) school of landscape painting, providing a fundamental representation of the oriental landscape in the world’s imagination and art.
